Role: Press and Communications Officer
Location: Remote, UK-based with occasional travel to London for meetings and to international art fairs.
Reporting to: Directors
Seeking an experienced, proactive Communications Officer for London-based publisher of photobooks, publishing approximately 20 titles a year. This role is responsible for executing effective PR campaigns for each title, writing book descriptions, creating compelling social media content, newsletters, maintain the website and managing GOST’s presence at international art fairs. The ideal candidate will have a few years' of communications experience a sharp eye for detail, ability to work independently, juggle multiple deadlines and knowledge of either the publishing or photography industries. Salary dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
Press
• Writing press releases and compiling press packs
• Press release distribution and pitching
• Managing exclusives and first run features
• Responding to press enquiries
• Managing allocation of press review copies
Marketing and social media
• Working with team to keep the website updated
• Compiling monthly newsletter
• Producing content for social media channels
• Responding to customer / photographer enquires via social media
Awards and Art Fairs
• Managing applications to Art Fairs and Awards
• Attending Art/Book fairs
• Organising and promoting book signings at fairs
Experience
Essential
• A few years of communications experience in press office or PR agency in the fields of photography, the visual arts or publishing.
• Strong writing ability and attention to detail
• Experience managing social media channels
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience with using photoshop to manage image assets
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and work independently
• Basic knowledge of copyright law
Desired
• Experience working with photography or art
• Knowledge of Shopify, and managing and updating a CMS
• Proficient with Photoshop, Word, Excel and Mailchimp
• Knowledge of either the photobook or publishing industry
The role is remote / home based, with the occasional meeting at GOST HQ in London. The role involves some work outside of standard office hours and attendance at art fairs and events.
