In his work American photographer Richard Sharum turns his lens to those aspects of American society where the myth of the “American Dream” begins to crumble.
Moving beyond common clichés, his black-and-white photographs portray individual realities of life full of vulnerability, resilience, and quiet dignity. His visual language is calm and approachable, without idealizing or exposing—always marked by respectful attention to the human subject.
An exhibition of work takes place from 7 June - 20 September at Stadhaus Ulm in Germany, including from Spina Americana (GOST, 2024), American Homicide (forthcoming from GOST, 2026), and further book scheduled for 2028.
